This project was based on our trip to the Orange County Ropes Course. For physics, we had to create a laser-cut file of us completing a part of the course. We also had to create a free body diagram that shows all of the forces that we felt. The card below it is our description card where we had to write about how we felt emotionally throughout this trip. I wrote about my fear of heights.
The process for the ropes course model is we put a picture into google drive then the teacher placed us in groups with people who he thought had the same picture.
This was based on our first camping trip. Which was to Anza Borrego. We had to create a prompt and collect data on how we felt every 30 minutes, except when we slept. Feel free to read my description of how my experience went.
This wooden mural was based on our camping trip at Anza Borrego. We had to draw out, laser cut, and stain wood based on our memories. The bottom half of the mural also contains the history of the desert.
I wrote an article based on an experience I encountered during Epic Journeys. My article was about my fear of heights and how it affected me at the OC Ropes Course but at the end I pushed myself to do it. This writing piece is different from how I usually write because I had to condense my writing. It was difficult to write in the beginning. This is one of my proudest pieces, it taught me and many of my peers a valuable lesson.
Every month since the first month of school we had to create a calendar. We would draw out what we did that day, or our favorite thing that happened that day. My favorite that I made this year was my March calendar. A lot happened that month and it's where I felt the happiest. This monthly assignment was fun and I liked that I was able to go back and see my improvement.
For this project, I chose a picture of me and my friends tent. I traced out the tent in GeoGebra. This is a new program that we started to use this semester, it was challenging to create my piece. We used Adobe to laser-cut our tracing. It was a long, stressful, and difficult process. But in the end, we all managed to push through and put up our laser-cut piece on the wall to create a beautiful mural. This mural represented our experience in Lake Cuyamaca.
Our mission for this project was to create a boat that would be able to make it across the bay and back. This boat was made out of four supplies, wood glue, paper, tape, and cardboard. It took me at least 3 weeks to plan, test, and sketch out. We had three days to complete our final boat. We had to work diligently. It was difficult and fun. This project taught me a lot that I will apply to future projects.
It was my first time camping with my class. It was an interesting experience because we were stuck with our classmates for multiple days, but it wasn't as bad as many of us imagined. It was cold and we had to eat meals that our classmates made. Overall it was fun and I would do it again.
