Enzo Silon Surin is a Haitian-born poet, educator, speaker, publisher and social advocate who lives in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the author of the award winning When My Body Was a Clinched Fist (2020) and two chapbooks, A Letter of Resignation: An American Libretto (2017) and Higher Ground. Surin’s work shines light on experiences he calls “broken spaces,” and his poems have been featured in various publications and exhibits.

Bio: Naomi Shihab Nye was born to a Palestinian father and an American mother of German and Swiss descent, growing up in St. Louis, Jerusalem, and San Antonio. Nye is the author/editor of over 30 volumes and has won countless awards for her work. She draws her work from her Palestinian-American heritage, using her writing to attest to our shared humanity. Nye’s work also derives from her travels to various countries around the world. Her most recent book is Cast Away: Poems for Our Time (2020).

These events are open to the community, and we welcome full classes of students to attend all events.
