Reimagined Self

by Brandon Cramer

After Self Portrait, Vivian Maier

She does not exist,
Except when caught within
A lens.

She wanted fulfillment,
As she resided in an empty
apartment of a body.

To capture infinity,
To live forever, hidden
In a reflection within a reflection.

Where we all wish to go,
Exterminate our flesh cages
To find forever.

Live on the coattails
Of the edge of reality,
To find what’s on the other side

Without paying such a hefty cost.
To play where limits are forgotten,
To speak to those who were lost
In the pool of time itself.
