Working individually and with others to uphold the rules and laws of our community whilst listening to and respecting the views of others.

Working to protect the rights and opportunities of every member of our community so that we all have a fair chance to participate, succeed and enjoy life.



Rewards

We aim to recognise all of your great efforts and reward you for displaying exceptional behaviours and attitudes.

We do this in the following ways.

● Verbal praise and recognition, in tutor time and assemblies.

● Headteacher’s weekly awards.

● Emails to your parents/carers.

● Letters of commendation and certificates.

● Reward prize draws.

● Achievement lapel pins.

● Headteacher’s breakfast.


At Highlands School, we have five behaviour expectations.

  1. Follow instructions first time

  2. Engage positively in learning

  3. Show respect to each other and our surroundings

  4. Move around the school safely and calmly

  5. Be in full uniform at all times


STAR: Behaviours for learning

The following are classroom behaviours we expect you to demonstrate to promote learning.

S - Sit up

T - Track the speaker and stay on task

A - Ask and answer questions

R - Respect those around you


Behaviour in corridors and around the school site

Students are expected to follow the behaviour expectations at all times. Specifically, in relation to corridor behaviours, this means students should:

● Keep hands, feet and objects to themselves

● Walk calmly around the building

● Walk on the right-hand side

● Keep the school environment clean, tidy and undamaged

● Be in full uniform at all times
