Our curriculum is broad, coherent and designed to meet the varied needs of all learners. It encompasses all eight CfE curriculum areas, with a focus on developing knowledge, skills and attributes through relevant and engaging experiences. It also takes into account the culture, traditions and practices of our local area.
Literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing are recognised as core priorities and are the “Responsibility of All” because they underpin all aspects of learning and life. In Curriculum for Excellence, this means that every practitioner actively promotes literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing across learning, ensuring a consistent and holistic development of skills for life, learning and work.
We recognise that without positive health and wellbeing, pupils cannot effectively engage in learning. The Scottish Government’s National Improvement Framework also identifies improvement in children and young people’s health and wellbeing as a key priority, alongside raising attainment in literacy and numeracy.
