S3 Chemistry

Chemistry S3 course outline.

The S3 course is planned and prepared using the 'Expectations and Outcomes' guidelines, as well as the course information from the senior courses which come after S3 to enable continuation and enhancement of learning. 

The S3 course consists of 5 units:

• Rates

• Atoms

• Introduction to Organics

• Application of Organics

• Metals

In all of our units we aim to give the students as much practical experience as possible thereby preparing them for the National 5 courses, as well as the CfE Higher and Advanced Higher courses. Our students are given the opportunity to prepare an AVU at the end of S3 from a choice of practical experiments and complimentary data they have gathered over the course of the year. This is beneficial for further courses as it strengthens their research skills and analysis of supporting data.
