18th of June
To all our wonderful parents, community and families. We can not thank you enough.
Today Cannich Bridge Primary School were able to take 31 children and 8 members of staff to Landmark.
Every child regardless of age, stage or ability had an amazing time. To be able to do this is something we will never take for granted. Without your tireless fundraising particularly at the Christmas Fayre this would have not been possible. Many children have never and will never have the opportunity to go to Landmark with their families as it’s too expensive and today their dreams came true.
Get your dancing shoes on everyone. We are really grateful that the Mackintosh family have chosen Cannich Bridge Primary School as one of the benefactors. Jimmac and Catriona used to own and run the Slaters Arms and in their retirement were a regular at many of our school events and always stopped for a chat at the school gates. It would be great if we can get as many people along as possible for what will be a great night.

ASG Rugby event at Kilchumein

UHI SHinty World Cup with Teanassie Primary.
There is too many pictures to choose from but from all events these are my favourites and sum up exactly what taking part in sport is all about- enjoyment and fun.

On Friday April the 25th with help from Trees for Life and RSPB we went up to Corrimony and helped plant some new trees to replace the ones originally burnt in the fire. We had wonderful weather for the planting and we managed to plant over 100 trees. A morning well spent.
Community Park Upgrade April 2025
So, so proud of everyone today at the Mcrobert Cross country March 2025.
Big shout out to Oran, Freya S, Callum and Kenny who competed for the first time.
Special thanks to our wonderful Mrs Steel who also ran the whole race keeping everyone going.
We would also like to give a mention to Strathglass Community Fund who helped us purchase these lovely School tracksuits in 2020. Every event we go to we always receive lovely comments on how smart the children look.
We just love this picture of Kenny and Mrs Steel. So much joy running the MacRobert Cross Country Competition for the very first time. I think this is our favourite picture of the whole year.
Roxy, Martha and Freya bring home the trophy winning 1st place in the team event.
Lawrence Jones was a pupil at Cannich Bridge Primary School and someone who went on to remain part of the Cannich Bridge Primary Family despite moving onto high school. A great runner, team player and sportsman he was an active member of the community and role model.
Tragically on Sunday March 17th 2019 Lawrence sadly passed away after taking his own life and the sky gained another star.
A video by Strathglass Shinty Club from 10:19 - details how much Lawrence meant to everyone.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPplBxu17ss
Every year the shinty club, school and wider community comes together to walk from darkness into the light in memory of Lawrence Jones and to promote the message that, "It is ok, to not be ok".
We are desperate to make sure that our young people know that they are enough.
March 7th 2025
We had a lovely visit from Mrs Murchison and Mrs Varwell to explain all about world day of prayer.
On the 28th of February 2025 we hosted a learning showcase and Fairtrade coffee morning at the village hall.
Thanks to everyone who came along and made it a lovely morning.
Roxy, Skye, Catherine, Martha, Freya B and Rex ran the Inverness 5k raising a whopping £1955 for Strathglass Shinty Club.
THANK YOU
24th January 2025
Lovely to see our wonderful violinists being invited to form an Orchestra. We have 4 participants from the primary school and 1 former pupil. Which is just amazing amount from such a small school.
Great to see string players of all ages from across the glens all coming together.
If anyone else wishes to join (adults welcome experienced players or not) rehearsals are every Wednesday 4pm-5:30pm in Glenurquhart High School.

Cannich Bridge Primary School wish to express a very Happy new Year to all our pupils, staff and wider community.
We would also like to take this opportunity to wish our good friend Marjory MacArthy all the best in her new home in beauly. The Cannich Community won't be quite the same without you living close by (stopping by the gates for a chat) but we do hope you keep in touch and still come along to our events when you can.
Thank you for always being such a great support to our school.
Congratulations to former Pupil Ruairidh Todd who gave up his time the weekend to do this. All bootpulls sold out at their first market trade.
Absolutely brilliant!!
What a great thing to do, occupying your time outwith the shinty season.
As the New Year starts, and all the thank you’s and well wishes are made, one of the most prominent Thank You’s and appreciation messages, we the ‘Mackintosh Family’ have to make, is to each and everyone of you who helped support Jimmac and Kate’s ceilidh.
2024 was a tough year for many, and we as a family can all agree that one of the most special memories was the night of the Ceilidh. To have our family together, joined by so many people who loved both Jimmac and Kate (Granny would be cursing me for calling her Kate), was special all whilst raising money for the local community.
Coming from opposite sides, Granny’s heart was always with Strathglass Shinty Club, whilst Grandad was a Glen man to the core, always supporting Glen Urquhart Shinty Club - however this never stopped him supporting, and helping strathglass when he could.
Shinty was a passion of theirs, more so the younger generation, always willing kids to start playing from a young age. Therfore, it was only right that money went to each club with the request for it to be spent on the childrens age group.
We are delighted to say that the following was donated:
Both Glen Urquhart shinty club and Strathglass Shinty club were donated a total of £611.78 each, and Cannich Hall received £1223.55.
Half of the money raised will always go to a local community initiative and the other half will always be split between both of the shinty clubs.
The date has been set, and the flyers have been sorted for this year, so keep an eye out on Facebook for all the details
Message from: Strathglass and Affric Community Company.
Thank you to everyone who gathered at Cannich Hall today for the Community Christmas Lunch.
We’re so fortunate to have the support of Strathglass Community Fund, providing the funding so that we could all get together; and Invercannich Farm once again providing such a lovely meal. They made it seem very easy in the kitchen, but the work involved is enormous. It was wonderful to get so many meals delivered this year so huge thanks to those who provided lifts and delivered meals.
I am sure you will all agree that the P7 class did a superb job of serving the meals, ably supported by all the other volunteers. We also want to thank the Nursery - P7 children and all the staff at Cannich Bridge Primary for their wonderful festive performance.

Thank you to everyone who came out today to the Christmas craft fair in Cannich Hall, whether you were selling or buying we can’t thank you enough for making it such a success. Special thanks to Santa and Elf for taking time out of their busy schedule to visit. We Raised an amazing £1659.00 for the school
Our new calendars make amazing Christmas Gifts.
Thank you to the community for supporting our fundrasing for these.
The children noted that the pavements in the village were really icy and horrendous to walk on, so they dawned their cosy jackets and set about clearing the path from the shop to the bus stop. Many members of the community were really grateful.
P7s will be selling poppies today and in the playground after school all this week.
Please contribute to this great cause if you can. It was a cause that was always really well supported by our lovely former postman George Strachan and his good friend Bob Coburn, both sadly no longer with us.

Great teamwork today from our little squad of P4-7 taking on the P6/7 primaries from Strathspey/Tomatin , Glengarry, Carrbridge and Bun Sgoil Lochaber.
Two stand out players today,-
1) Toby Lawson Hill who played every match in goals made some phenomanal saves and his goal hits were great.
2)Hunter Fraser who was brilliant in defence. He got stuck in and wasn’t afraid. They future looks bright, same time next year.

League Winners
We are so proud of all our former pupils (above) who this week helped secure the North Division One Title for Strathglass Shinty Club.
The cup will be coming to Cannich Hall on September 28th and we are all invited to join in, with the celebrations.
We were delighted this week to finally taste some of the lovely sweet nectar that our Bees have been busy producing. This is our very first batch of Cannich Bridge honey and we can all agree it tasted wonderful.
We are delighted that Holly Williams (in the absence of Mrs Graham) has agreed to look after our bees.

CRAFT & PRODUCE FAIR UPDATE
Wow, what a brilliant evening we had on Friday! We were taken aback by how many fantastic entries we received for each category. The judges had such tough job on their hands! The venison burgers and hot dogs went down a storm, and we sold so many raffle tickets!!
A huge THANK YOU again to everyone that donated the amazing raffle prizes, we really were spoilt for choice this year.
And lets not forget a huge thank you to everyone that helped with the organising, the set up, the tidying up, the serving, the judging, and anyone who gave up their time to join us and spend their hard earned money at our fundraiser.
And finally one last thank you to our parent council. Without your support, time, ideas and passion for the cause, our wonderful little school wouldn't be what it is today.
I can confirm the Craft and Produce show 2024 raised a grand total of £1178!!
This has surpassed all our expectations and we thank each and every one of your for the support you give to our School.
