Welcome Back Everyone.
3.9.25 Whilst the P6-7s were still away on their residential trip, the rest of the school had a lovely afternoon at the park. The weather was very kind to us and we made the most of what could be the last of the good weather. As a staff it was wonderful to watch our children embracing our school values (Community, Respect, Inclusion, Sustainability, Perseverance or CRISP for short) and building their social skills as they played, took turns, made up games, included others, showed kindness, and tried new things. It really is a privelege to be the teacher of such an amazing bunch.
2.9.25 How fantastic to be back in the class with P5-7. Now we are in week 3 and settling into our routines the real work is underway. Whilst the P6-7 were away on their residential trip the P5s did some fantastic measuring. We had free choice of what we wanted to measure in the playground and we explored our estimating skills which helped us to decide the best piece of equipment to use. We (mostly) remembered to use the correct units and used our numeracy skills to compare our estimates with our measurements. We have been successful learners.
Feis Rois will be running sessions every Thursday with our P5-7 children comparing music from Spain with Scottish Music. Really exciting to have a Native Spanish Speaker working for Feis Rois and sharing a love of scottish and traditional music.
P5-7 P.E
Mrs Fraser is carrying out sessions of Shinty with the children this term for P.E
Whether the children have played before or not this is a great introduction to the game that was founded in our lovely Cannich in 1887.
A history lesson and P.E all in one.
Wednesday 18th June 2025.
Today we had a fabulous trip to landmark.
As you can see from the pictures the children had a wonderful day.
Many overcoming fears of heights and pushing themselves way beyond their comfort zones to complete sky dives and the high rope works courses.
The waterslides were also a big success.
The children had a fabulous time ceilidh dancing and getting ready for High School at the Transition Dance.
Big thanks to all the staff from the primary and secondary schools for making this possible. Also a big shout out to the S5/6 pupils for coming along and helping out.
Miss Browns Term 4 Round UP.
It has been an exciting and exhausting final term for P5-7 with lots going on. P5-7 began Term 4 finishing their shapes topic in maths by getting creative before moving on to patterns and sequences. In Science we simulated the digestive system and have been exploring the senses and in Health and Wellbeing we have been learning about food and sustainability, learning about food labelling and where our food comes from.
We had the opportunity to join Teanassie Primary School for football coaching with Ross County Football Club and a mini tournament. It was a scorching day and the children enjoyed learning new skills as well as making new friends. Thank you to Teanassie for hosting us and making us feel very welcome and to Ross County for coaching us. A special mention to Mrs Butler for refereeing on the day. This Term we had special visitors from the Ambulance Service come and visit us to tie in with our topic about the body. They very kindly demonstrated some of the ways they stabilised the body in a variety of scenarios. It was very interesting and we enjoyed getting the chance to pretend to be patients. It gave us all an appreciation of the fantastic job our emergency services do.

Fun with food and farming trip
28th May 2025
On the 28/05/25 the p5 to p7 class went to the black isle show grounds. It was really fun. It was a completely free experience. We first went to beef and machinery and learnt about tractors. It was ok but I would have liked a bit more facts. After we went, we saw two highland cows and learnt about what they eat and the man showed us his dog doing tricks. They were impressive.
For the second activity it was crops and grains. We learnt about food and want it gets turned into.I liked this because I got to sit down and got to grind wheat into flour. We were a little bit crowded so I couldn't see very well. Overall it was interesting.
Then we had renewable energy. We were learning about wind turbines and got to use a VR headset. It was a bit scary because I nearly fell off the building but I loved it. We also got to use a lever and pull someone up like they were at the bottom of a windmill and we got to pull them to the top. We were split into 2 groups. In the second group we all had a stick and had to guess how far 56 metres is. I came third and that is how long a smaller windmill blade is.I enjoyed it and found it fun.
The next thing was a sheepdog demonstration. Two sheepdogs were trying to get 6 sheep into a pen. It took around 10 mins and it looked very cool and hard.
We all went to a building where we had lunch, the toilets were nice and clean.
Next it was pollinators. They were benches so our legs could get some rest. They showed us how to spot the queen bee and how they collect pollen. We got to try some honey. It was good.
We had cere in the countryside but my legs were quite tired, there was nowhere to sit. We learnt about forest fires and the country code and felt dry fern. We got pictures and had to find out if it is a fire hazard. It was alright but I didn't really enjoy it,but it is quite important to know this.
The 7th thing we did was soil science. There were still benches but I found this one really fun. We were in groups and got to mix soil, water then mixed it and tested it with Ph strips.
Last but not least dairy farming. They told us about the dairy cows and calves. It was loud so we could not hear the lady because we were next to the vr headset people. We were in piers and got a bottle of milk and shook it up till it was butter. After that we got to milk a fake cow that was fun and quite easy and I would like to do it again. Then we went home. It was really really fun and I would love to go again thank you so much black isle farm for that amazing farm.

We have been working hard all term on our production, practising lines, songs, remembering cues and stage positioning. I'm sure you'll agree that it was a fantastic production with lots of great singing and humour and most of all enthusiasm. It was well worth the effort and many thanks to parent council who collected an impressive sum from donations too. Disclaimer - The production in no way represented the teachers or pupils of Cannich Bridge! 😜

This week the whole school participated in the act of remembrance.
The P5-7 children created this wonderful window display and engaged in some lessons relating to war poems.
They then created there own.
Two of the children's poems are listed below, please look in your child's profile to see their version.

I got forced to go to the war
I had to go to war.
I didn't want to go.
I was scared i might die.
Or worse kill another for a lie.
Before the war had begun .
I wasn't trained to use a gun.
It was the day for me to go.
And i was feeling very low.
Hundreds of us left that day.
All of us without a say.
Some of us never return .
Some have a lot to learn.
My mum got me chocolate and it made my day.
I just wish I could go home and stay.

Week Beginning 11th November 2024 P5-7 Miss Brown
On Monday we marked Remembrance Day with a minutes silence at 11 am to remember those who have fallen and those who have given service. The children showed great respect and some shared personal stories from their family histories.
This week in maths we have been trying out 'Goal Free' learning to explore converting between different units of time to discover what we know about it and what we can work out. Mrs Reynard and I were very impressed with some of the thinking it produced.
Our rugby training has been continuing with more skills and games. We have been very lucky with the weather - let's hope it continues. Everyone has been getting stuck in and learning the club values. Ask them to see if they can remember them all!
Over the last few weeks the children have been learning about famous sculptures around the world and worked in groups to create a presentation about a famous sculpture of their choice. This week they presented them to the rest of the class. They produced detailed, informative presentations. They will be added to book creator soon.
November 8th 2024 - P5-7 Miss Brown
We had our final week of swimming this week.It has been a pleasure to watch the children’s confidence in the water grow and they have been enjoying their time at the Aquadome.
This week in Maths we have been looking at different aspects of time.
-P5s have been getting more accurate telling time by the minute.
-P6s have been learning how to tell time with Roman Numerals.
-P7s have been discussing the pros and cons of clocks changing bi-annually. They engaged in a debate in front of the rest of the class; who then voted whether we should keep things as they are or not bother with BST anymore.
Both sides came up with good arguments and counter arguments and it was a close vote.
In literacy the children have been recording themselves on book-creator reading famous war poems such as Flanders Fields by John Macrae and thinking deeply about the meaning behind the poems as we remember those who have fallen.
The children have also been enjoying rugby training with Colin from Glenurquhart Rugby Club with lots of fun games, building skills and teamwork.
