A Little About Me
I grew up in East Texas and moved to Arlington to attend UTA where I earned my bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Secondary Education. I thought by living in the metroplex I'd be close enough to visit home; however, I ended up spending 35 years in Arlington raising my three children. I recently moved to this neck of the woods, Glen Rose, in the summer of 2021.
I've taught English Language Arts for 32 years, and enjoy teaching students the mechanics of grammar and writing as well as motivating and strengthening students' love for reading.
Being outside is my favorite place...whether I'm walking, hiking, biking, or gardening. One of my favorite things to do is take the night vision and watch the wildlife in the pastures. Since Texas is so hot in the summer, I make sure to spend a week or two in my favorite place, Cloudcroft, NM...where the temperature is amazingly cool!
My husband and I recently returned from two months walking the Camino de Santiago across Spain…560 miles with a 27-pound backpack. We started our hike in St. Jean Pied de Port, France, where we walked across the Pyrenees. We ended our pilgrimage on the Atlantic Coast in Finisterra, Spain, commonly referred to as the end of the earth.
When I’m not outside walking or working in my garden, I love spending time with my three grandsons. I have a two-year-old, a nine month old, and a one month old!
I look forward to meeting you and beginning this new school year!
