Hello,

I am honored to introduce myself to you as the Director of Curriculum. My name is Dominique Vetrano. I highly regard the Hasbrouck Heights District's commitment to high-quality education, academic achievement, and a sense of community. I would like to sincerely thank the entire faculty, students, and parents for your continued engagement and commitment to education. I look forward to partnering with you all and finding opportunities for our students to grow and gain career and life skills. Together, we will succeed in creating a fulfilling academic experience that is built on an appreciation for knowledge, understanding and new competencies as well as balancing social emotional needs. I am committed to promoting an inclusive and positive learning environment that also encourages communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.

I have been an educator for 15 years. In my previous role as an Elementary K-5 Principal for the Caldwell-West Caldwell Public School District, I was an instructional leader and served the students, families, and the community. Before becoming a principal, I was a Supervisor of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment role for the Hillsdale Public School District, I oversaw and supported a K-8 district, and I successfully implemented a five-year curriculum cycle that was aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, and supported the integration and responsible use of 21st-century instructional technology and practices. Prior to my Supervisor role, I was the Regional Curriculum and Instructional Coordinator for the Pascack Valley Regional High School District where I supervised four K-8 school districts to align curriculum and professional learning to ensure a common skill set for a shared high school experience. Prior to this administration experience, I was an elementary teacher in the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District for seven years.  During this time, I had experience with third through fifth grade as well as basic skills intervention instruction. I couldn't be more pleased to bring my leadership and administrative experience to the Hasbrouck Heights Public School District.

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Studies (Early and Middle Childhood Education K-5) from Montclair State University.  I also was a member of their Women’s Soccer team.  After graduation, I achieved two Master degrees in Counseling (School Counseling K-12) and Educational Leadership with my supervisor, principal, and chief school administrator certifications. I am also a Google Level I Certified Educator and a member of various State and National Educational Organizations like NJPSA, ASCD, NCTE, NCTM, AMTNJ, and Learning Forward.

As an educator, I believe that all students can learn, have a voice, and can make a difference in the world. I will strive to form partnerships with families and create opportunities for collaboration between students, teachers, families and the community to enrich the social, emotional, and academic well-being of our students. I understand students enter school with personal histories and particular strengths that we as educators should recognize and use as the foundation for working with them.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy reading, running, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends.

I look forward to building relationships with the district, students, families and community. Together, we will make a difference in each student’s academic journey.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Dominique Vetrano
