You may drive or take the train, but most people will probably fly directly to Trondheim.
Or you may like to fly to Oslo first? Spend some days there, then rent a car and drive or take the train or fly from Oslo to Trondheim?
This guide will tell you how to get to Trondheim by plain, then by bus to the City Center - and finally by foot to the Conference.
If you join the Field Trip to Hessdalen, and the trip to Rørøs, you have to walk to the train station (or rent a car).

If you join the Field Trip to Hessdalen by signing up for the Bus Tour, all you need to do is get on the train on Sunday morning.
We have arranged a chartered bus from the train station in Ålen to Hessdalen for conference participants.
After the Field Trip, some participants may prefer to return to Trondheim, while others may wish to continue to Røros. The bus will take you back either to Ålen train station or to Røros town center.

The easiest way to reach Hessdalen is to travel via Trondheim.
Trondheim has the best range of flight connections and is well connected by train and bus to central Norway. From Trondheim, it’s straightforward to continue by train, bus, or car to Ålen and onward to Hessdalen.
The conference itself will be held in Trondheim, making it the natural starting point for your trip. We are also planning a tourist day in this beautiful historic city, giving participants time to explore Trondheim before heading on to Hessdalen.
If you plan to rent a car, this can be done directly at Trondheim Airport (Værnes).

Frequent departures: Up to 4 departures per hour.

When you arrive at Trondheim Airport (Værnes), you’ll find the airport bus, Værnesekspressen, waiting just outside the terminal doors.
Tickets are purchased before boarding the bus. Once you have your ticket, you can simply board the bus and travel directly into Trondheim city.
Værnesekspressen is the easiest and most convenient way to get from the airport to the city center.

If you are staying at the conference hotel, get off the bus at "Prinsens gate".
The hotel is just around the corner.
If you have found accommodation elsewhere, it should be easy to reach the city square. From Trondheim city square, the conference venue is just a short walk of about 100 m (300 ft).

Some from the team will be at the station to guide people to the right platform - and show you how to buy the ticket.
In Ålen - a bus is waiting (this bus is part of the conference fee - but the train ticket you have to buy yourself)
From the Conference, Hotel Augustin, it is a short walk to the train station:
