Natural resources and war

The values of natural resources can lead two or more groups to fight. People may disagree and they all want to benefit. When people believe there's no peaceful way to fairly share resources, they begin war. The leaders try to keep the people happy by lowering the prices for some goods. Country's soldiers may decide if they are not being paid enough or not.

They may fight the government. Rising prices may also cause people to be unhappy and they might turn against the government. Natural resources can also be used to fund the war on both sides. A rebel group can rise control of a natural resource like diamonds or timber. They may sell the resource to get weapons and pay the soldiers. Then the violence goes on and both sides use resources to pay the soldiers and also for the weapons.
