In DP, students must take all 3 core subjects; failure to fulfill requirements results in failure to obtain the baccalaureate diploma.
Students must choose a total of 6 subjects.
Students must choose one subject from groups 1-5.
Students may choose not to do any subjects from Group 6. In this case, students must choose the 6th subject from groups 1-4.
Students may not choose the same language in groups 1 and 2.
Students may choose 2 languages in group 1 and no language in group 2; the opposite is not permissible.
Students may choose 2 languages in group 1 and no language in group 2; the opposite is not permissible.
Each subject can be chosen as SL (standard level), and most can also be chosen at HL (higher level; exceptions: languages ab initio and ESS)
Students must choose 3xHL and 3xSL
BILINGUAL DIPLOMA
A bilingual diploma can be awarded if either the 2 conditions below are met:
the students takes 2 languages in group 1
the language of one of the subjects in groups 3 or 4 is in a different language than the language in group 1 IF and ONLY IF the grade obtained in the subject in group 3 or 4 is 3/7 or higher.
