Dates: March 23rd & March 30th Time: 8:30-11:30 AM
Location: Herkimer BOCES WEB Complex, The White Room
This 2-day, in-person workshop (3-hour sessions), gives participants the opportunity to become familiar with different types of biases, many of which we all have in common and some we do not. In conjunction with videos, cartoons, and handouts, the instructor(s) will highlight, model, and utilize evidence-based instructional practices/strategies that will support participant learning and give immediate "take-home & use” value to the workshop experience. The second session is heavily influenced by Banaji & Greenwald's "Blindspot" where we learn about "Mindbugs" in some pretty interesting ways. If you would like to participate in a workshop that will: - give you opportunities to understand several types of cognitive biases and heuristics (and have some fun doing it!) - and give you strategies that can help to de-bias biases in our classrooms, work, and life all while highlighting current best practices and modeling evidence-based instructional strategies that you can use in your classroom … then this is the workshop for you!
