“This practical resource shows how to enact robust forms of civic education in today’s schools. Both instructive and thought-provoking, it will inspire teachers to craft curricula addressing a wide range of genuine civic problems such as those related to racial discrimination, environmental damage, and community health.” This book is designed to help teachers contemplate the depth of democratic projects and create possibilities for schools to help uphold democratic ideals. Written by Shira Eve Epstein an assistant professor of secondary education at the School of Education, The City College of New York (CUNY) this book dives into how to create civic engagement opportunities for our students. This book study will be completely asynchronous beginning on March 1, 2023, and ending on April 30, 2023. Teachers will read and complete assignments in Google Classroom independently. Participants must purchase the book on their own or ask their district to purchase it for them. We will not be providing the books to participants.
