Who is Eligible and How?

Children who are eligible to attend the preschool program fall into these eligibility guidelines:

• 3 or 4 year old with disabilities or developmental delays

• 4 year old whose family income is no more than 160% of the federal poverty index

All children are screened in 5 areas as part of the eligibility process. Those 5 areas are the following:

• Cognitive: measures the child’s pre- academic skill level such as colors, picture identification, counting, etc.

• Social: measures the child’s social skills and interactions between peers and adults

• Adaptive: measures the child’s independent skills

• Motor: measures the child’s gross and fine motor abilities

• Communication: measures the child’s ability to answer questions, repeat information, follow directions and pronounce specific sounds when they talk

Henry County schedules several screening dates in the Spring of each year.  Please click here if you are interested in having your student screened.
