Veterinary Science Course Overview:
The Veterinary Science course is designed for students interested in careers in animal care, veterinary medicine, or related fields. This advanced course builds on prior animal science knowledge and focuses on key topics such as veterinary terminology, animal anatomy and physiology, clinical procedures, parasitology, animal nutrition, medical math, and proper handling and restraint techniques. Students engage in hands-on labs and real-world simulations that prepare them for the fast-paced veterinary industry. All students are required to complete a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge in a practical setting. Active participation in FFA is also encouraged, offering students opportunities to strengthen leadership, communication, and employability skills through competitive events and chapter involvement. As part of the course, students have the opportunity to earn the Veterinary Assistant 1 Certification by completing the End-of-Pathway Assessment (EOPA)—and our program is proud to have achieved a 100% pass rate in past semesters. This course prepares students for entry-level positions in animal care and sets the stage for continued education in veterinary and animal science careers.
