Animal Science Course Overview:
The Animal Science course provides students with a deeper understanding of the animal agriculture industry through hands-on learning and science-based instruction. Students explore the anatomy, physiology, nutrition, reproduction, genetics, and management of both small and large animals. Emphasis is placed on understanding the role of animals in society and how animal agriculture contributes to food production, fiber, companionship, and recreation. All students are required to maintain a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project, which allows them to apply their classroom knowledge in a practical setting. Involvement in FFA is also a key component, offering students opportunities to develop leadership and career-readiness skills through competitions, conferences, and chapter activities. Throughout the course, students strengthen their employability skills and investigate potential careers in veterinary medicine, livestock production, animal nutrition, and animal biotechnology. This course prepares students to make informed decisions as both consumers and future professionals in the field of animal science. Below you will find the course syllabus and course standards.
