Rebecca Davis graduated from Henrico High School in the year 1992. During her time here as a Warrior. Rebecca was involved in a lot of clubs including; SGA, Beta Club, FBLA, Model UN, COE and many more. She was very proud of her club affiliations and working with her peers on various activities after school. She experienced her best and worst experiences during high school. She told us her best high school experience was “going to football games after school and going to Hardee’s (No longer exists, but was located near the intersection of Azalea and Chamberlayne) in the morning for breakfast”. She kept herself busy with honors classes (there was no IB back then), clubs and a few close friends which allowed her a drama-free high school experience. She also had a co-op job in 11th and 12th grade that occupied a lot of her non-school time. She had someone in high school who she was very fond of. She said that “it was better for her boyfriend to not go to her school, that way she can focus on her studies and all of her other important activities”. Rebecca told us that being a warrior takes “a sense of family. You also need to care for your peers and teachers at school. School is like another home, so treat it like one.”
After school, Rebecca joined Capital One Financial and has been there ever since (over 20 years!). She is currently a Sr. Manager at Capital One and enjoys her role. Rebecca shared that Henrico High School set her up for success in many ways. Henrico helped her figure out who she was deep down inside. While attending Henrico, her honors and AP classes allowed her to learn that she wanted to continue working hard in life and be a life time learner. Since Rebecca went to school here, it has changed a lot. She told us that all of the students back then weren’t granted many opportunities like we are today. Henrico didn’t have the IB program or the CFA program. She shared that all in all, the school’s exterior looks the same except for the CFA newer building and the central air (they had window units that sometimes worked in the winter and summer months). Some advice for freshman Warriors is “Do not rush your life. There is a lot in this big world. Many adults would rather be in High School than be at work. Don’t rush to be an adult because you have a long life to live! Enjoy it.”

Ms. Shantell Griffin graduated from Henrico High School in 1993. She stated that she “Loved being a warrior” and that she had a “Great experience”. When I asked her “What it takes to be a warrior?” Ms.Griffin said that you have to be “Dedicated to making yourself better, never give up, and fight for what you believe in”. When we asked as a group “Who did you go to prom with? And how was your time at prom?”, she told us that “She went with the person she was dating at the time, and she did not like her experience based on the “Little Mermaid” theme”. We also asked “What type of activities did she attend to?” and she told us that she was on the track team, CFA dance team, German club and more that she did not name. She was very descriptive when telling us about how she got into all of those clubs and activities.
When I asked Ms.Griffin “how did being a warrior prepare you to be #lifeready?” She stated that “you should accept people for who they are”. When she left High School she went to college to become a counselor. She also go to different schools to teach teens about healthy relationships. Ms. Griffin wants teens to “find themselves in high school rather than trying to worry about other people, that won’t matter in your life when you start working towards your profession”. Also she was very respectful and professional with her words and pronunciations while we were interviewing her. She was very straight forward about the entire interview.
