As a school community, Elko Middle has created a positive learning environment where students and teachers can thrive and experience academic and social success. Our school community takes PRIDE in each other, our thoughts, words, and actions every day, everywhere!
In the Technology and Engineering classes, we employ Elko PRIDE as:
I am POSITIVE and open-minded about the projects and engineering concepts we will be learning. I believe my participation and being a team player will help me be successful in this course. I understand that engineering technology will teach me about STEM concepts that I can use in all classes.
I am RESPONSIBLE and will keep my seat area and classroom clean and safe. I am prepared with all required materials and supplies for this class, which include my laptop, cell phone*, spiral/composition notebook, writing utensils, 3-ring binder, classwork, independent practice work, and projects.
I have INTEGRITY in following all instructions given by my teacher and any help that my classmates may offer. I will follow all safety guidelines at all times and will use all tools and equipment properly. I will be honest, work independently, and will put forth the best effort of my skills, talents, and abilities.
I am DISCIPLINED because I will consistently work hard to demonstrate the right behavior because it will build the right habits for success. Being courteous and respectful to my teacher and classmates when they are speaking shows that I have self-control in every situation.
I am ENGAGED in class by asking thought-provoking questions that will spark creativity and ingenuity. As a result, I will acquire an engineering mindset for problem-solving and critical thinking.
This form of positive-based management helps to engage students in a higher level of learning while being aware of their personal goals and obligations to themselves, classmates, and teachers. The following rules and consequences apply to my classes:
