AB 469 FAFSA/CADAA Completion Requirement

AB 469 requirement per California Education Code Section 51225.7 -- Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) are required to confirm that high school seniors complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA).

These requirements apply beginning with the 2022-23 school year for the 2023-2024 FAFSA/CADAA application cycle that starts on October 1, 2022.

FAFSA Deadline: April 2

 The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is the form that determines your financial aid eligibility from the government and most colleges. The form collects personal and financial information from students and parents, and applies a formula to determine your Expected Family Contribution, or EFC.

Dream Act

The California Dream Act Application allows students interested in attending eligible California Colleges, Universities, and Career Education Programs to apply for state financial aid. This application is separate from and unrelated to the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
