Interpreter ethics are an important part of how we do our job as healthcare interpreters. The three organizations listed at the left offer guidance, workshops, and other helpful information to assist interpreters in the provision of interpreting services in a medical setting.
Each has a slightly different set of ethics, all based on similar industry standards, so please click on each link to familiarize yourself with each set of ethics. GLOBO does not promote any particular agency or organization, but we do encourage interpreters to pursue medical interpreter certification, if possible. Other helpful links include:
American Translators Association: Professional development and support.
Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf: Resource for sign language interpreters and transliterators.
National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators. Resource for interpreters that work in legal settings.
