YOUR WEEKLY UPDATE FROM HURST JUNIOR HIGH
7/14/2026
There is something special about the start of a new school year. It's a season filled with anticipation, new opportunities, meaningful connections, and endless possibilities for growth. While our hallways may be quiet today, the excitement for another school year is already building. Our administrative team has returned to campus and is busy preparing for an incredible year, and in just a few short weeks our teachers will join us as we get everything ready to welcome our students home.
Whether you are a returning Red Raider family or joining Hurst Junior High for the very first time, welcome! We are thrilled you're here, and we can't wait to partner with you for what promises to be an amazing school year.
My name is Bianca Johnson, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Hurst Junior High. As I begin my third year at Hurst Junior High and eighth year as a campus principal, I continue to be inspired by this incredible school community. Hurst is a special place because of the people who make it what it is ... our amazing students, staff, families, and community members who believe that every child deserves the very best educational experience.
At Hurst, our mission is simple:
We do great things for kids and each other every day
in a safe and positive environment.
That mission is at the heart of every decision we make. We believe every student deserves to feel known, valued, challenged, and supported. Our goal is to create learning experiences that help students grow academically while also developing the confidence, character, and resilience they'll need long after they leave our classrooms.
Thank you for trusting us with your child and allowing us to be part of their educational journey. Together, I know we'll make this an incredible year for every Red Raider. I can't wait to welcome our students back and see all they accomplish this year.
Hurst is First!
Bianca Johnson
Principal
Every year at Hurst, we rally around a theme that reminds us who we are and who we aspire to be.
This year, that theme is Hurst is First...Class.
While Hurst is First has long been our campus motto, this year's theme challenges us to take that commitment even further. Being First...Class isn't about being perfect but instead it's about choosing excellence every day in the way we learn, lead, serve, and treat one another.
For our students, it means taking pride in their work, demonstrating responsibility, showing kindness, and representing Hurst with integrity.
For our staff, it means providing engaging, meaningful learning experiences while building relationships that help every student succeed.
For our families, it means partnering with us to create a community where every child feels supported, challenged, and inspired.
Together, we're committed to making this a First...Class year for every Red Raider.
If your student is new to Hurst or entering 7th grade, Raider Camp is the perfect opportunity to become familiar with our campus before the first day of school.
Students will have the opportunity to:
Meet teachers and staff
Tour the campus
Learn campus routines and expectations
Meet classmates and make new friends
Begin the school year with confidence
