Ms. Garza's Counseling Corner
Meadow Creek Elementary
Meadow Creek Elementary
Hello Meadow Creek Families! My name is Samantha Garza and I grew up in Denton, Texas. I also attended college at Texas Woman's University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Family Studies. I then went on to obtain my post-baccalaureate and earned my teaching certificate in Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of North Texas. I also have a Masters in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University.
I taught Family and Consumer Science classes in Irving, Texas and then moved to teaching and working with pregnant and parenting teens at the same high school. Part of my job was to serve students and ensure they graduated from high school. I then became a counselor at John Haley Elementary in Irving and then moved to Meadow Creek.
This will be my 10th year at Meadow Creek as the Counselor and my 20th year in Education. Meadow Creek has a special place in my heart and I love working with the students and families here. My oldest daughter has gone to Meadow Creek and my youngest is still at Meadow Creek. I believe in developing an authentic relationship with my students and parents. I truly believe it takes a village to raise your child/children and pride myself in partnering to help assist however I can.
The counseling program at Meadow Creek includes; classroom guidance lessons, small group, and individual counseling. I also serve in 504, RTI, and collaborating and planning with teachers and administrators.
