Mentors are growth agents whose role is to develop self-reliant, reflective beginning educators, able to make effective instructional decisions as they strive for high performance for themselves. A mentor's support is critical to beginning educator success and their impact on student outcomes. Participants will learn how to address the needs of mentees at each part of the cycle of the beginning educator. They will become skilled at matching mentoring interactions to mentee's needs. The planning, reflecting and problem-solving templates are just a few of the tools that will be taught and then implemented, by mentors with their mentees, between sessions. This 15 hour course will provide opportunities to practice and further build skills in developing mentoring relationships.
