The second semester has officially begun, which brings tons of new opportunities: new courses, teachers, and peers, all while balancing a new workload. Needless to say, semester 1 was demanding. So, let’s dive into how you can make semester 2 the best one yet!
Stay organized
Throwing papers into your bag and not turning in work may seem minor at the time, but as the semester continues, it doesn’t take long before incomplete and lost work become big issues. In order to maximize your productivity and well being, make sure you keep tabs on all current assignments and use tools such as binders and folders to keep track of all your work. This way when exams roll around, you’ll have all the work and knowledge you’ll need at your fingertips.
Balance your time
Time management is crucial when it comes to organizing your work and assignments. By creating a to-do list and a daily agenda, you’ll be able to stay on top of all your work and projects. Use a weekly planner or your ‘Reminders’ app to keep track of important dates.
Make connections
With new classes, friends, and teachers, it’s important you get to know those around you. Whether it’s getting to know who you sit beside or asking your teacher for assistance, the more connections you make the easier it will be to ask questions or share ideas further into the semester. Therefore, when a unit test arrives, or you're stuck on a homework question, you’ll have friends and teachers to support you.
Try new things
It’s never too late to join a new club or try out for a sports team. The second semester provides a fresh start, so why not take advantage of it? Blakelock offers new opportunities and experiences, which will not only help you build connections, but can also help you earn volunteer hours and gain experiences for resumes, job, and post-secondary applications.
Take care of yourself
Prioritize your physical and mental well-being. Whether that’s at the end of a long night or some down time on the weekend, self-care should be just as important as finishing your assignments. Things such as reading, exercising, socializing, listening to music, or anything you enjoy should be part of your well-balanced day.
We wish all Tigers a healthy and happy second semester!
