Learning Skills

Character Development

It is my goal to model and teach character development.

I will use the 3 Rs: RESPECT, RESILIENCY, and REPUTATION.

We will dive into this on DAY 1 and continue to have discussions throughout the entire year.

To be successful in Ms Dunn's class, students are expected to practice and develop their Learning Skills. Learning skills are integrated into every lesson and subject area.

Growing Success: Assessment, Evaluation, and Reporting in Ontario Schools (Ontario Ministry of Education).

In our class we are always discussing the importance of learning skills; how they improve our day-to-day life, academic goals, and personal goals. Everyday we consider ways to improve *all* our learning skills.

"The development of learning skills and work habits is an integral part of a student’s learning. To the extent possible, however, the evaluation of learning skills and work habits, apart from any that may be included as part of a curriculum expectation in a subject or course, should not be considered in the determination of a student’s grades. Assessing, evaluating, and reporting on the achievement of curriculum expectations and on the demonstration of learning skills and work habits separately allows teachers to provide information to the parents and student that is specific to each of the two areas of achievement." - Growing Success, p.10
