There are many different options for you to consider when looking for both a lunch bag and containers. Taking time to discuss snack foods and when items should be eaten will help to build independence in selecting healthy items first. You may choose to consider sending two separate bags or containers, one for snack and one for lunch. Or when using one lunch bag you might consider labelling the containers with #1 and #2 or 'snack' and 'lunch'. All items MUST be nut-free due to allergies. Nut alternatives such as 'wowbutter' are acceptable as long as they are labelled as such.
We participate in a school-wide green bin and recycling program. Please send food/drink items for lunch and snacks in recyclable or reusable plastic containers in order to reduce the amount of garbage produced on a daily basis. For example, removing items such as granola bars from their wrappers at home reduces our classroom waste dramatically. Also any water bottles that are sent in need to be leak proof in case they get knocked over or spilled.
There are many different optional food programs offered for the students to participate in over the course of the year (e.g., pizza, subs, milk program). Information regarding these programs will be sent home early in the school year.
Kindergarten children have supervised outdoor play twice a day. Children should be dressed appropriately for participation in outdoor activities and according to the daily weather conditions.
