Sparx

Why is sparx important?

Sparx supports the long term memory of Mathematics.

Sparx provides the opportunity for students to recall recently learned concepts and apply these to questions that gradually increase in difficulty. We know from our study into how to successfully change the long term memory of the students we teach we need to revisit recently taught topics to help this stick. Sparx is one of the mechanisms we use to support this and so its vital that if we want students to remember the Mathematics they have learnt that they complete their Sparx homework.

Why is mathematics important?

Maths provides opportunity.

GCSE Mathematics is a qualification looked at by many employers as a signal of numeracy. Many post-16 opportunities are limited by the achievement in this specific qualification. We believe that we maximise student opportunities by supporting them to achieve the highest grade possible in this important qualification.

How can parents help?

Please check your child’s Sparx homework is completed each week. Ask them to log in to their account and view the percentage completed. This should ideally be 100% but close to this figure would be a substantial improvement and very welcome.

We set homework weekly and this is due by 8am on Friday. You can check the homework on any day that is convenient to you. Please don’t hesitate to get in contact if you would like to know more.

What support is available to students?

We offer varying types of support sessions with Sparx work.
