Introduction

This qualification is organised into three components.

Component 1 - Exploring User Interface Design Principles and Project Planning Techniques

Component 2 - Collecting, Presenting and Interpreting Data

Component 3 - Effective Digital Working Practices

C1 and C2 are assessed using three Assignments.  Each component is worth 30% of the final grade.  C3 is a written examination worth 40%.

Information Technology is an area with a huge array of employment opportunities.  After completing this qualification, students often move on to Level 3 BTEC IT where they can build on the skills acquired at this level.

Grades are awarded based on performance in all three components.  Outcomes are as follows:

Level 1 Pass

This qualification suits motivated students who want to gain practical IT skills.

In KS3, you will learn basic IT skills that will support completion of the BTEC Assignments.

Homework is set on a website called KnowItAllNinja, where students are expected to read through a set text and complete a quiz on that text.
