The process of creating student schedules is a multi-step procedure that occurs over a period of months.
Students are placed into core courses based on grades, test scores and teacher recommendations.
Counseling staff will work with students to help them make elective choices that reflect both fulfillment of graduation requirements, and future college and career plans. Any concerns over course requests can be expressed to the student’s Counselor.
Students will receive their schedule at Orientation/Open House.
Some courses may not be available due to closed enrollment or course offering conflicts.
Any student who drops a class after the third (3) week of the semester will receive a “W” (withdrawal), receiving zero credit for the course and will be computed into the GPA equivalent to a grade of “F”.
College Credit Plus is Ohio’s dual enrollment program that provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking courses from Ohio colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to enhance students’ career readiness and postsecondary success, while providing a wide variety of options to college-ready students, at no or limited costs to students and families.
A “Letter of Intent” form must be completed and submitted to the counseling office no later than April 1st of the year prior to entrance to be eligible.
Hamilton High School partners with Sinclair Community College to offer College Credit Plus courses on Hamilton High School’s campus. Students planning on pursuing this option will want to talk with their teachers and counselors.
Students can take CCP courses through any public college or university in Ohio. Many students choose to take advantage of the university in our community and take CCP courses at Miami University Hamilton.
