Special Permission: How to Apply

Special Permission allows students residing within the Hamilton City School District to request enrollment in a school other than their designated neighborhood school.

📅 Opens: April 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM
📅 Closes: May 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM

All applications must be submitted online. Proof of residency is required.

Annual Reapplication Required – Even if your child was previously approved for Special Permission, you must reapply each year.



Special Permission for this current school year 


Hamilton City Schools is no longer accepting 2025-2026 Special Permission applications, as the deadline was May 31, 2025.  However, exceptions may be considered for students who have moved out of their current school’s zone but still reside within the district.  Consideration will also be given to other circumstances on a case-by-case basis.  To request an application for special circumstances, email studentservices@hcsdoh.org.
