Special Permission: How to Apply
Special Permission allows students residing within the Hamilton City School District to request enrollment in a school other than their designated neighborhood school.
Please review the following requirements before submitting your application:
Key Requirements & Guidelines
Annual Reapplication: Approval is valid for one school year only. You must reapply every year, even if your child is currently attending a school via Special Permission.
Specific Windows: Applications are only accepted during the district’s designated Special Permission filing period.
Individual Applications: A separate application must be submitted for each student in a household.
No Guarantees: Submitting an application does not guarantee placement.
Capacity Limits: Final approval is strictly based on available space within the requested grade level or specific program.
Note: Acceptance is determined annually and is subject to changing enrollment numbers across the district.
Application Period
📅 Opens: April 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM
📅 Closes: May 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM
All applications must be submitted online. Proof of residency is required. We will not accept applications past May 31, 2026.
SPECIAL PERMISSION IS CLOSED
Annual Reapplication Required – Even if your child was previously approved for Special Permission, you must reapply each year.
