Common Core 6 (CC6)
The CC6 class is a rigorous course that covers one year’s worth of standards over the course of the school year. Students in grade 6 focus on four critical areas: (1) connecting ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division, and using concepts of ratio and rate to solve problems; (2) completing understanding of division of fractions and extending the notion of number to the system of rational numbers, which includes negative numbers; (3) writing, interpreting and using expressions and equation; and (4) developing an understanding of statistical thinking. Depending on course performance and assessment results, students will then be recommended for either CC7 or CC 7/8 Compressed as 7th graders.
