Ukrainian War

It was February 24, 2022. Tanks, APCs, and planes started to invade Ukraine. *** Rossiya svyashchennaya nasha derzhava, Rossiya — lyubimaya nasha strana. Moguchaya volya, velikaya slavatvoyo ostoyanye na vse vremena! *** Why did Russia invade Ukraine? because of the Russo-Ukrainian war escalation. Over 100,000 people has died in the millitary, and more than 10,000 civilians. Russia controlled a fifth of Ukraine in June of the same year. More than 8 million people had been forced out of their homes and 8.2 or more million fled Ukraine. This meant that more than a fourth of the population fled, causing a refugee crisis in Europe. This also caused ecocide, and food shortages.

Russian soldiers were lingering at the border before they attacked, because Russian people did not want to attack Ukraine. Putin then said he will launch a special military operation to support the Russian-backed breakaway republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, where other Russian forces were fighting since 2014. Putin also said that Ukraine was governed by neo-nazis, and wanted to de-nazify Ukraine, as well as disabling the military. Air strikes and ground forces were launched from Belarus and to take over Kyiv. As a result, Ukraine substituted civilian government to military.

Russia backed away from the north because of resistance and other problems in April of 2022. In the South and Southeast however, Kherson and Mariupol by Russia in a month. Then, Russia launched a new invasion in Donbas and bombed military AND CIVILIAN targets. Ukraine though made a successful counter. But the worse was to come, as Russia said to completely annex 4 occupied parts. Ukraine then took back Kherson Oblast and the city in November of the same year. Another counter-offensive was made by Ukraine in June 2023, but it didn't really do much other than take back some land.

Because of the invasion, the world was very dissatisfied. The United Nations General Assembly told Russia to call off the invasion way back in March, but of course Russia didn't budge. Nations made sanctions on Russia and gave military supplies to Ukraine, like the American Bradley or the coming Leopard 2 **angry Russian tank noises** The war also had tons of protesting around the globe and have been arrested for this in Russia. Stores, restaurants, and major brands and companies closed in Russia because of the invasion. The International Criminal Court investigated Russia in children abducting, genocide, and war crimes. The ICC wanted these people arrested for these acts: Putin, Maria Lvova-Belova, Sergey Kobylash, and Viktor Sokolov.
