Here are the poems we have to offer:
The River on the Hill
By Gwen and Lana
Behind the castle
Up on the Hill
Something moves quietly
Silent and still
Moves all the fish
From the East to the West
It isn’t perfect
But it tries it’s best
The fresh water shines
As it takes it’s long strides
It carries tree branches
Along for the ride
If you look at it closely
You’ll see it glisten
You’ll hear the water traveling
If you try to listen
You can see it shiver
You can see it quiver
You’ll see it here and there
You can watch the river
The river moves gracefully
With noticeable mistakes
Let it take you where you wish
If you need a break
Peaceful and oblivious
To the world around
When you meet the river
You’ll hear that calming sound
It’ll move every now and then
Silent and still
Behind the castle lies
The river on the hill
British Call for War
By Gwen
We brought you to your colonies
You rob us of our cash
Fighting in a war for you
And you treat us like trash
Britain owns the west
We fought France for that land
You can’t go beyond this line
“Americans” are banned
Won’t even pay your taxes
We raised it by a ton
We need that money to pay for
The war that we have won
You say you don’t need us?!
You do and you’ll soon see
But you colonists persisted
And destroyed all our tea
Incident by incident
With bounties on your head
And then the Boston Massacre
More of your men are dead
And you continue fighting?!
With soldiers on your street?!
You colonists are crazy!
We shall knock you off your feet
Although we owe our thanks
To the ones who have stayed loyal
Patriots vs. Britain
Is Peasants vs. Royals
Your pitiful army
We’ve got our own in store
No freedom for you colonists
All call for war!
