It all started when King George III fought the French and Indian War, also known as the 7 Years War. The war was fought to claim land for the colonists. When the war was finally over King George III lost a ton of money. So, he taxed all printed items - a law known as the "Stamp Act." This was bad because the merchants that sold printed items were not getting customers and they were low on money. The colonists were very mad, and Benjamin Franklin was one of the people who helped remove it. The king told colonists to only buy tea from this one company and the British taxed it. Again the colonists were very mad at this so they went on a ship that was carrying tea and dumped it all into the Boston harbor. The king punished Boston and the people had to pay for all the tea they dumped into the harbor.

Many other laws where passed that the colonists did not like at all. Thomas Jefferson Wrote a draft called the Declaration of Independence. It talked about taxation without representation. What that means is that the colonies don't have a say in the government because of how far away form Britian they are. Britain also does not know how unfair it is to the colonies. The continental congress approved of the declaration and Thomas Jefferson , Benjamin Franklin and Samuel Adams sent the Declaration to Britain.

The British army was at war with the colonies after the declaration of independence. The colonies did not have an army but they had a group of citizens that never had training experience called a militia. The colonies got a lot of help from the french army the french sent some troops to the colonies and along with a lot of food and supplies as the colonies motivation to fight for there home grew stronger the british army surrendered to the colonies and they colonies won the war

THe civil war

April 1861, Civil War was one of the most bloody wars in history was starting. The tension between the north and south states was bad because of slavery the north had factories while the south had big plantaitons that required alot of maintenance. On January 1st 1863 President Abraham Lincon anounced the Emancipaiton Proclomaiton wich freed all slaves but some states left the union and they still have slavery there. During the battles the south wore gray and the Union wore blue.

The first battle was small, every battle after that was very bad. The battle of Gettysburg was one of the most famous battles and that is also where Abraham lincon gave his famous speech............................... The Gettysburg Address

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.......

Abraham Lincon belived that slavery was bad and wanted it to be abolished. But the south states almost "Needed It." Because of their plantations and that was how the south got its money.

The war ended when Confederate General Lee surrendered to the Union General at The Battle of Appomattox Court House.

French revolution

Do you remember how the French helped America during its revolution? Well the French wanted some revenge on the British for the seven years war in the past. King Louis the 16th wanted to help America. The French were in financial debt because America was poor because they were a new county and could not pay back all of the money to the French so after the war France was in more severe financial debt. France had 3 levels of people ,the poor farmers and peasants in the third lower estate and the lower estate was taxed by the people in the upper classes (The royalty and rich.)

The upper classes were living fine while the peasants in the fields were taxed and the third estate was rioting and making their own government called the National Assembly and there was nothing the king could do about it. This all lead to revolution and the lower estate was getting ready for war and the king acted like nothing happened and kept taxing the poor

One man found a way to execute people using a large heavy blade to literally chop people's heads off..Some people in the National Assembly where even talking about something more crazy, The Removal of the King Entirely (executing the king.) the people raided the castle and abducted queen Marie-Antoinette and decapitated her. The king was really scared and tired of people raiding his castle and he tried to remain calm and he even had to wear the french revolution bonnet which he did not like but had to or else they would kill him. The people where getting tired and just wanted him gone.
