New to the PLTW Program?

Get a head start on your college career and add prestige to your admissions applications by receiving college credits from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). These are transcripted credits and are eligible to be transferred to other universities. One of the most important benefits of having RIT credit is that, during the college application process, admissions officers look favorably on a student who has already completed college-level courses. Visit the PLTW Website for information about earning articulated college credit through the Rochester Institute of Technology: RIT Credits for Students and Parents

Already taken one or more PLTW courses?

Remember, you can earn college credit for each of the PLTW courses you have taken in high school. Visit the website RIT Credits for Students and Parents to find the form you have to fill out for registration, important deadlines, and the cost.

many of our courses offer dual enrollment - but what does that mean?

  • DUAL means you get high school credit and college credit. This is offered free of cost!

  • This means you, as a Hammond High School student may earn 3 college credits at HCC by taking the course.

  • You must follow the process to sign up for the college credit. The Jumpstart/Dual Enrollment office from Howard County Public School System will push out that information when time to sign up for the college credit. It is typically around a month after the class begins.

  • You never have to attend HCC, your transcript will be held there but you may take the credit to any college in the future.

  • There are NO ADDITIONAL assignments for students that are dually enrolled, all work is incorporated into the courses.

Check out the articulation agreement that HCPSS has with HCC Here: https://www.hcpss.org/academies/college-credit/
