This seminar is designed to explore key topics in forensic science. Throughout this seminar there will be both virtual and hands-on experiences using a variety of forensic tools and technology resources. Students will systematically be obtaining data and applying scientific processes to understand the details of a crime; therefore, fictional crime scenarios will be used to understand concepts and processes. It is important that students follow all directions and adhere to all safety precautions outlined. In addition, topics need to be handled with sensitivity, respect for diverse perspectives, and empathy in presenting possible solutions.
The major content of this seminar includes:
Applying critical thinking and problem-solving strategies
Using effective oral and written communication
Evaluating available resources that can assist in solving problems
Recognizing a problem and brainstorming ways to solve the problem individually or collaboratively
