Guilford Elementary School started this program on February 12, 2014. We continue to help the Crayola Company turn markers into clean-burning fuel, roofing, and asphalt. This up-cycling program helps to reduce our school waste. This company will recycle any markers. Students, staff, and parents can bring their markers from home also to the marker recycling center in our workroom. They are counted and then shipped to the Crayola Company. Crayola school upcycling program had to stop because of Covid for safety reasons in 2020. The company has temporarily suspended it. We hope it will start back soon.

In 2015, Guilford started recycling used clothes with Cash for Clothing. The Capital Clothing Recyclers, LLC ( Tom Hamorsky, Jr. -Director) picks up used clothing from their bin in our parking lot every month and recycles it. In return, we receive money to help with supporting community environmental projects. We have collected 29,942 lbs of used clothing from April 2018 - February 2022.
