Students learning the Grade 6 Mathematics Standards of Learning will continue to build upon their understanding of the four operations through work with integers and fractions. They will develop proportional reasoning in various contexts through the use of fractions, tables, and the coordinate plane. Students add percents to the list of rational numbers they are able to consider in making comparisons between values. Finally, students in Grade 6 will develop a deeper understanding of formulas, expressions, equations, and inequalities through the use of variables, modeling, and problem solving.
