Erika Galvan has been with HCISD for the past 17 years. Previously, she has served other district level roles after 2 years as a campus administrator. She also has 5 years of experience as an Elementary Instructional Coach and 8 years in the classroom as a bilingual teacher. 

Mrs. Galvan is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in educational leadership at UTRGV. She is recognized as an Apple Distinguished Educator, Class of 2017. Mrs. Galvan is committed to being a lifelong learner and supporting other educators as much as possible to increase student success. 

Machaela Henderson-Briones is an experienced educator who has been serving in HCISD since 2011. She spent a decade working as an 8th-grade math teacher and has gained valuable insights into what makes a successful educator. 

As a Math Content Specialist, Machaela has a diverse range of responsibilities. She is responsible for developing the curriculum.  She also supports teacher development. This involves providing professional development opportunities, mentoring new teachers, and helping current teachers improve their skills. Machaela is committed to ensuring that every teacher in HCISD has the support they need to be successful in the classroom.
