Enrollment Eligibility

For the 2024-2025 school year, students are eligible to enter:

Transitional Kindergarten* - Turn 5 years of age on or between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025.

Kindergarten - Turns 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2024.

Hermosa Beach Residents - Meet residency requirements outlined in the affidavit of residency.

Inter-District Permits - Permits are now available for the 2024-2025 school year. Space and availability varies by grade. Permission to be released from the district of residence is needed by visiting your home district office and requesting an Inter-District Permit Release, then applying to HBCSD. * According to Assembly Bill 130, universal eligibility will be for all 4-year-olds by 2025-2026. HBCSD will slowly begin to implement this by increasing the age of four-year-olds who can be admitted into TK each year, which began in the 2022-2023 school year.

• 2023-2024 School Year: Students can enroll in TK if they turn 5 between September 2, 2018 and April 2, 2019. View the 2023-2024 Grade Level Placement chart for guidance. 

• 2024-2025 School Year: Students can enroll in TK if they turn 5 between September 2, 2019 and June 2, 2020. View the 2024-2025 Grade Level Placement chart for guidance.

• 2025-2026 School Year (and each school year thereafter): Students who will have their fourth birthday by September 1, 2020, shall be admitted into TK, and students who turn 5 on September 1, 2020, shall be admitted into Kindergarten
