Below are a number of photography contests and publishers.  Submitting to these or similar organizations provides more possibilities that your work will reach a  larger audience.  Some of these contests are only for people over the age of 18.  All submitters should carefully read the contest or submission rules as well as any information that covers what rights you are granting the entities you are soliciting.  If you are a minor make sure that you have parental/guardian permission.

BBC News: Your News, Your Pictures - The BBC is interested in the news photos in your part of the world.  

National Geographic: Your Shot - Known for their in-depth reporting and outstanding photography, National Geographic seeks submissions from their readers.

Smithsonian Annual Photo Contest - Sponsored by Smithsonian Magazine, this contest has numerous categories and cash prizes.

Scholastic Art & Writing Awards - This is is the longest-running student art competition in the United States and includes categories for photography, film, & animation.
