Who We ARE
The counseling team helps to prepare our students for success both now and after high school. Each day, we work with students, parents, teachers and staff to ensure that our students have the tools they need to be successful young adults.
The counseling team helps to prepare our students for success both now and after high school. Each day, we work with students, parents, teachers and staff to ensure that our students have the tools they need to be successful young adults.
Each counselor will intervene on behalf of students whose immediate personal concerns put their continued educational, career, personal, or social development at risk. Additional on-campus support is provided to students by Communities in Schools, our Outreach Counselor, and Counseling Interns.
Counselors support the efforts of teachers, staff, parents, and the community in promoting the educational, career, personal and social development of all students. Each counselor uses their expertise to plan and manage their programs and to coordinate services needed or requested for students.
As part of the Counseling Curriculum, our team conducts class level presentations and activities during various time of the school year. Topics include: Graduation Requirements, Career Exploration, Course Selection, College Admissions, Anti-Bullying, and Healthy Relationships.
Counselors help students develop their educational potential and encourage skill development in self-confidence, motivation, communication, decision-making and goal setting, interpersonal and cross-cultural relations, and responsible behavior. Our counselors guide students as they plan, monitor and manage their own educational, career, personal and social development. The counseling center staff coordinates student enrollment, scheduling, credit checks, ACC Early College Start and College Connection programs, and other guidance-related activities.
