RedTails LEAD AmeriCorps
Hawkeye Community College launched RedTails LEAD because we believe in the potential of each student, recognize their importance to our community, and are committed to removing barriers to their academic and career success.
Together, RedTails LEAD AmeriCorps members are a network of support for underserved students using a holistic approach by providing direct service, leading as connectors, peer coaches, and mentors; and increasing access to academic and personal supports. We provide guidance along with a cohesive suite of services to help students through academic and other life challenges. We recognize the strength and potential of each student and aim to create a culture where every student feels respected, appreciated, supported, and valued.
Our Mission
The mission of Hawkeye Community College is empowering students, strengthening businesses, and enriching communities. In alignment with this mission, the RedTails LEAD program seeks to:
Create a culture where everyone is respected, appreciated, and valued.
Identify barriers to student success and remove them, creating a student ready campus.
Strengthen a diverse, equitable, and inclusive college by learning to identify, appreciate, and respect our differences.
Provide relevant and innovative educational opportunities for all.
