Digital Badges
Leeward CC uses University of Hawaiʻi digital badges to recognize and validate faculty and staff completion of selected professional development (PD) programs. More than a graphic, digital badges (often referred to as digital credentials), serve as verified records of professional learning, instructional practice, and ongoing growth.
Each official UH digital badge includes embedded metadata that documents:
The identity of the badge earner
The issuing institution
The criteria required to earn the badge
The skills, knowledge, or competencies demonstrated
This information is “baked into” the badge, allowing it to be shared, verified, and viewed beyond the image itself.
At Leeward CC, digital badges are used to:
Validate professional development in a transparent, verifiable way
Recognize faculty and staff accomplishments
Document instructional expertise and growth over time
Provide shareable credentials for email signatures, CVs, portfolios, LinkedIn, and websites
