The Health Policy Initiative partners with UHealthy Hawai‘i to drive impactful health policy by applying analytical, research, and educational leadership to address pressing health policy and economic issues in Hawai‘i, the Pacific, and nationwide. A unique collaboration between the College of Social Sciences (CSS) at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and state agencies (including the Departments of Health and Human Services) addresses emerging and chronic health issues.
HAWAI‘I HEALTH DATA CENTER POSITIONS
The University of Hawaiʻi (UH) Telecommunications and Social Informatics Research Program (TASI)/Pacific Health Informatics and Data Center (PHIDC) seeks talented and committed team members to help further our portfolio of health information technology, health informatics, and health analytics projects. We offer a wide range of positions in management, administration, data analytics, data engineering, data governance, IT and security. Our organization provides assistance in the areas of planning and management of health information technology, health data analytics, program evaluation, and healthcare policy analysis for our partners. We serve as the State’s technical partner and data center for the Hawai‘i Health Data Center (HHDC) All-Payer Claims Database (APCD), and serves as technical assistance and professional services partner to the Med-QUEST Division (MQD) Health Analytics Office (HAO). With the MQD HAO, we play a crucial role through the development and implementation of the Integrated Data and Analytics Platform and in the continued analytics work and data management required to support data needs across all MQD programs and improve and expand health informatics and analytic capabilities.
IMMEDIATE OPENINGS
DATA ANALYSTS (SR and JR): support research, analytics, programming, and reporting of healthcare administrative data. Participate in analytic planning, implementation, quality control, and reporting processes. Conceptualize and design studies, conducts analysis, prepares visualizations and reports.
DATA ENGINEERS (SR and JR): build data pipelines and implement Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes. Develop and implement a variety of data management functions (i.e., database management, master data management, data quality, person matching, data modeling, etc.). Aid data analysts in integrating and cleansing data.
IT AND SECURITY ANALYSTS (SR and JR): implement and maintain a variety of information systems, including but not limited to, infrastructure, system networks, security, and operations. Implements best security practices to manage, monitor, and remediate the security of the information systems. Monitor and maintain information systems.
DATA GOVERNANCE SPECIALISTS (SR and JR): develop, implement, and operationalize data governance policies and processes (including agreement and legal review, data access and release, communications, data quality, compliance, etc.). Develop, implement, and maintain data documentation.
