Learn more about our Partnership for Wellness & Resilience
Medical respite provides members who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness and an acute clinical need with short-term room and board, medical services, and other supports in a safe, supportive setting. The benefit helps members prepare for or recover from medical procedures, hospital stays, or other clinical events while maintaining access to needed care.
Types include:
Short-term pre-procedure housing: Short-term housing and support for members who need care before or after a scheduled medical procedure.
Short-term recuperative care: Short-term housing, clinical support, rehabilitative services, and monitoring for members with ongoing medical or psychiatric needs.
Short-term post-hospitalization housing: Short-term housing and clinical support for members who are continuing to recover after discharge from a hospital or other institution due to a physical health, psychiatric, or substance use-related condition.
Medical Respite is part of the expansion of Community Integration Services--"CIS+"--and went live on January 1, 2026.
