HOʻŌLA ʻĀINA PILIPILI

Accessible School Community Garden & ʻĀina Learning Center

Everyone should feel welcomed in a healing space such as a school or community garden regardless of ability. Hoʻōla ʻĀina Pilipili is an age-friendly, accessible school community garden and ʻāina learning center where we host school groups, professional development for educators, and community workshops on ʻāina-based learning, Native Hawaiian crops and medicine, and accessible gardening basics.

Mahalo to the HIDOE Windward Academy for Career and Technical Education (CTE), the Johnson ʻOhana Foundation, and UHM College of Education for generous funding to support our vision. And mahalo to our Hoʻōla ʻĀina Pilipili ʻohana—the 700+ students, visitors, and volunteers who have helped to cultivate and nourish the ʻāina here of Pilipili. Since March 2022, we have collectively created 12 garden beds, a wheelchair-accessible pathway, natural shade structures, a medicinal garden, and several vertical gardening options.

All are invited to visit our māla and get involved!
