The purpose of this course is to (1) provide educators, staff, and administrators with fundamental knowledge of Hawaiian perspectives related to wai, and (2) grow educators’ confidence and abilities to teach about the current events surrounding wai at Kapūkakī (Red Hill) and water issues across the pae ʻāina. 

Framed by Nā Hopena Aʻo and ʻĀina Aloha competencies eveloped by the Office of Hawaiian Education, educators will apply knowledge gained through attending course sessions to develop pedagogical practices and student experiences related to Hawaiian perspectives of wai grounded in Hawaiian language, knowledge, culture, history, and community engagement.
